Primary Description of the Position
We are looking for an experienced solution architect to help deliver our products to customers on time and on budget. As a solution architect your aim is to bridge the gap between the business and the technical architect, providing an excellent level of communication between all stakeholders, giving expert technical advice and consultancy.
A good base knowledge of cloud architecture frameworks e.g. AWS Well-Architected Framework as well as a thorough understanding of general architecture frameworks such as TOGAF is highly desirable. This role is about understanding requirements, providing advice, managing risks and delivering the right technology results. You will be able to translate technical concepts relating to software engineering, delivery management and service management into a language that management and non-technical stakeholders can understand. You will be able to produce a strategy for technology that meets business needs. You will be able to create, refine and challenge patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements.
Our Scout® platform makes extensive use of some non-mainstream technologies such as Apache Kafka, Arango DB Document and Graph databases, Docker Swarm/Kubernetes and JBoss Thorntail. Any exposure or experience with these technologies would be welcome as would any knowledge of Java Enterprise Edition.
As a member of our Professional Services department, you will be given the opportunity to grow your skills and the support to help deliver our products to market. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Defence and Security team and will be instrumental in further delivering our products into HMG Government and commercial sectors.
